Introduction to word problem year6:

In mathematics, the name word problem is frequently used to refer to any mathematical implement where important background information on the problem is presented as text sooner than in mathematical notation. As word problems frequently entail a description of some sort, they are incidentally also referred to as story problems and may vary in the quantity of language used. I like to share this Linear Regression Example Problems with you all through my article.


Examples word problem year6:


Y6 word problem 1:

An orange cost Rs.6.5. How much do 5 oranges cost?

Solution:

We can find the cost of 5 oranges by using the following method.

An orange cost is Rs.6.5

5 oranges cost is calculated by the multiplication of 6.5 and 5.

That is, 6.5*5= 32.5

Answer: Rs.32.5

Y6 word problem 2:

There are twelve yellow marbles, twenty-four red marbles and seventeen blue marbles in a box. Find the total number of marbles.

Solution:

Number of yellow marbles       =    12

Number of red marbles       = 24

Number of blue marbles     = +17

Total number of marbles    = 53

Answer: 53

Y6 word problem 3:

Mercy, teacher of grade 6 students has 84 gifts for her students. There are 67 students and each received one gift from the teacher. Find the number of gifts remaining with Mercy.

Solution:

Total number of gifts with Mercy            =   84

Number of gifts distributed to students    = - 67

Number of gifts left with Mercy               = 14

Answer: 14

Y6 word problem 4:

Warne won 50 dollars and John won 30 dollars in a race. What was the total cash price of the race?

Solution:

Here total cash is calculated by adding the given values.

Warne= 50 dollars

John= 30 dollars

Total= 50+ 30

= 80

Answer: 80 dollars
