Let us learn about area of a quadrilateral
--> A quadrilateral is a polygon with four sides. The parts of a quadrilateral are its four sides, its four angles, and its two diagonals. In ABCD quadrilateral diagonal is a straight line joining two alters AC and DB are the diagonals. Area is usually measured in square units such as square inches, square feet or square meters.
Formula for Finding Area of Triangle and Quadrilateral
Formula for area of triangle:
Area of triangle is the base times of height by two.
Area of each triangle =1/2 (base × height)
Area of Quadrilateral: If two sides of the quadrilateral are not parallel, you need to calculate the area of a quadrilateral then here is the formula:
1) Area = Square Root of {(s-a) (s-b) (s-c) (s-d) -1/4(ac+bd+pq) (ac+bd-pq)}
Where a,b,c and d are the four sides of the quadrilateral with a and c and b and d as the opposite sides, p and q are diagonals, and s = (a+b+c+d)/2.
The quadrilateral is dividing it into two triangles and summing the areas of the triangles.
2) The area of the quadrilateral ABCD = Area of ABD + area of BDC
= ½ x base x altitude + ½ x base x altitude
=1/2 d (h1 x h2)
