Introduction to Semi Circle Bar:
Semi circle bar is defined as the half of the circle. The total degree of the  semi circle is 180 degree and the symbol of the semi circle is D. In semi circle bar the radius is same at the entire place. In this article, we see about the properties of semi circle bar and example problems using the properties of semi circle bar.

Properties and Formula of Semi Circle Bar:

Properties – Semi circle Bar:

Semi Circle Bar: ADB is the semi circle.

Diameter: AB is the diameter of the circle bar. The distance between two points of the line which passes through the center of the circle.

Radius: radius is said to be the half of a diameter of the circle bar. Here OC is the radius of the circle.

Chord: ED is the chord of the circle bar. The line segment whose end point are on the arc that passes through any where with in the circle bar.

Sector: The space between two radii within the arc is called sector. Here OCB is the sector of the semi circle bar.

Formula – Semi Circle Bar:

Area of the semi circle = `(pi r^2)/2` square units.

Perimeter of semi circle = p * r units.


Example Problem – Semi Circle Bar:

Example 1:

What is the area of the semi circle bar whose radius is 5cm?

Solution:

Given: Radius = 5cm

To find: Area of the semicircle or half circle.

Formula:

Area of the half circle = `(pi r^2)/2 ` square units.

Area of the half circle = 0.5 p r2

= 0.5 * p * 52 = 0.5 * p *25 = 39.25 cm2

Area of the semi circle bar = 39.25 cm2                

Answer: Area of the semi circle bar = 39.25 cm2              

Example 2:

Choose the following which is the total degree of the semi circle bar.

Option:

a)     230°

b)    180°

c)     360°

d)    60°

Answer: b

Explanation: We know that the total degree of the circle bar is 360° and semi of the circle is called half circle.

Hence the total degree of the half circle = `(360 ^ 0)/2` = 180°

Practice Problem – Semi Circle Bar:

1. What is the perimeter of the semi circle bar, whose radius is the 4cm?

Answer: 12.56cm

2. What is the area of semi circle bar, whose perimeter is 4cm?

Answer: 2.54cm2
