Rules of multiplying Positive and Negative numbers

Multiplying negative and positive integers can be confusing and frustrating for students. Learning different strategies can help a student to remember the rules and apply what they learned.let's see some rules from number theory tutorial.

Rules of multiplying negative and positive numbers.

we have used prime numbers up to 100 in the following examples.

1)When we have two positive numbers .we multiply them and the answers to math problems
is a positive number

example : 5 x 4 = 20

2)When we have two negative numbers ,we multiply them and product is a positive number

example: -5 x -4 = 20 (not -20)

3)When we have one negative and another positive number,we multiply them and the product is negative

example: -4 x 5 = -20 or 4 x -5 = -20

Many students can memorize the rules with funny sayings or examples. They can think about the positive integers as "good" people and negative integers as "bad" people like criminals.
P x P = P; When GOOD (P) things happen to GOOD (P) people, that's GOOD (P)
N x N = P; When BAD (N) things happen to BAD (N) people, that's GOOD (P)--(It's good when criminals go to jail.)
N X P = N; When BAD (N) things happen to GOOD (P) people, that's BAD (N).
P X N = N; When GOOD (P) things happen to BAD (N) people, that's BAD (N). --(It's bad when criminals can escape.)
